Shankar has gone back to Harris Jayaraj for providing music for his 3 Idiots remake in Tamil and Telugu. This is not the first time Shankar is moving away from his favourite music director AR Rahman, who is over committed and will not have time to provide music for a remake film.

Remember Harris had earlier given super hit music with Shankar for Anniyan. The Shankar- Harris combo is sure to rock, and will be another highlight of the film.

Meanwhile Harris Jayaraj told sify.com: “Shankar has approached me to do the film. I’m positively working on the dates to accommodate him as it is always a pleasure to work with him.”

An anthology of four short films commissioned by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation were released by ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan at Four Frames preview theatre today.
Two films under this AIDS Jaago programme, one directed by Vishal Baradwaj and the other by Santosh himself, were also screened. The films have been dubbed in Tamil titled Vazhkai Mukkiyam – Vizhithidu. Vishal’s film starred actor Siddharth and Ayesha Takia while Santhosh’s film had Saroja Devi and Prabhu Deva playing important roles.

Said Santhosh who viewed the film along with the audience, “The original version of my film is titled Prarambha and was shot in Kannada and I am happy its been dubbed into Tamil to reach a wider audience. We spent a lot of time in Mysore speaking to sex workers and incorporated elements from real life into the film. The actors did the films for a very low remuneration. The films will also be screened abroad in countries like Canada and USA and we thought it would be a good idea to screen them before a feature film. The films have a duration of 13 minutes each.”

The other two films have been directed by Farhan Akhtar and Mira Nair. Also present on the occasion were Dr Laxmibai project director of TAI and Padma Chandrasekaran, head, Immunization and Vaccines, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Said Padma, “There are over 2 million Indians living with HIV today and the films are based on men’s unsafe sexual behaviour and the fear that the social stigma of AIDS breeds. We are grateful to the distinguished directors who have contributed and are confident that with the release of the films in Tamil we will be able to reach a wider audience.”

Mani Ratnam’s over hyped Raavan in Hindi is going to have its television premiere, 44 days after its world release!
Raavan featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Vikram and Aishwarya Rai, will have its world television premier this Sunday, August 1 at 8 pm on Colors. The film which had opened on June 18 is one of the fastest Hindi films to hit the small screen under 50 days of its theatrical release.
According to television industry sources, normally a very big Hindi film is shown on television only after 100 days of its theatrical release. But Raavan turned out to be such a colossal flop, that the producers and the channel which had the satellite rights realized that its futile to delay the television premiere.
Remember last Sunday (July 25) Sony created history when it telecast Aamir Khan’s Raju Hirani directed mega blockbuster 3 Idiots, 213 days after its theatrical release. The film garnered a television rating point (TRP) of 5.0 in its debut on small screen. It is the highest ever TRP for any feature film on television in India.
